What mode do I operate in?
That's a pinnacle! Yet I gladly admit
to being a supremely common woman
average in size, shape, and origin.
Consider me, statistically,
as just a female born in the U.S.
And although I've also lived abroad,
doesn't mean I'm exceptional.
For my blasé ordinaries, I do make
one small claim to greatness;
the kind with no official listing.
Recently, I witnessed the most
incredible record-breaking events, ever.
I came in as number one in failures,
to consider some of the greatness
in my twenty-five years.
I now believe anyone can discover
great things somewhere least expected.
We may decide once and for all,
to take a stand, delve into the unfamiliar.
If so, consider this to be bravery,
since it's possible, what's found
could put a strain on credulity ---
bend status quo, physics and biology.
When we allow any of these new
and different places or situations
into our lives, we will know
a simple truth: We chase wild dreams
and long for what eludes us.
But some things within reach, can't be
recognized as the great joys they are,
if we won't consider them.
